The Level 5 Diploma in TEFL is the senior qualification Hanseo offers. It is not a short course. It is not an upgrade. It is a sixteen-week programme of study, assessment, research and observed practice designed to produce teachers capable of running their own classrooms, training junior colleagues, and taking responsibility for curriculum.
The Diploma is mapped to Level 5 of the TICA International Qualifications Framework — the same benchmark as the advanced TEFL diploma and advanced TEFL diploma. Graduates of the programme are qualified for senior teaching, academic management, and entry to relevant master's degree programmes.
Our Spring 2026 intake is being offered at a reduced rate of ₩1,060,000 (USD $785), against our standard fee of ₩1,215,000 ($900). The reduced rate applies to all trainees who complete their enrolment by 15 May 2026. It will not be extended. We do not advertise further discounts after the deadline has passed.

Twelve hours of observed teaching across two contexts, each extensively debriefed and written up.
A 6,000-word original research paper, individually supervised by Faculty across fortnightly tutorials.
A sixty-minute oral examination with two Faculty examiners on the research paper and teaching practicum.
Reading and preparation against a Faculty-issued reading list of forty-two titles.
The Diploma is delivered online via our live-video seminar platform of the Gangnam Finance Centre. This is a considered decision. The observed practicum, the viva voce and the research-paper tutorials cannot, in our Faculty's view, be properly delivered through a screen.
The Diploma cohort is capped at thirty trainees per intake. Spring 2026 has fewer than fifteen places remaining at the time of writing. Interviews for the Diploma are held weekly on Wednesday afternoons; please write to our admissions office to arrange one.
The Hanseo Diploma in English Language Teaching — TICA Level 5 · STEC · HKTSB fully accredited. The transcript records the specialist elective, the title of the research paper, and the teaching contexts of the observed practicum. It is accepted for entry to MA TESOL and MA Applied Linguistics programmes at participating universities; please ask for the current list.
